The first time I saw Land Of Talk live was a year ago in Visalia and the show was good. But I've definitely attended better concerts. The highlight was meeting lead singer Lizzie Powell before the show. As for the concert, it seemed thrown together at the last minute. There were sound issues and the Montreal band was less than energetic.
Fast forward to last night. It was a completely different and great experience.
Bassist Joe Yarmush and drummer Andrew Barr were replaced by opening band and fellow Canadians Suuns. I'm not sure why the two were missing, but Suuns complimented Powell with a high-energy and professional backing missing from the first show. Everything was better: The sound, venue, excitement and performance.

Land Of Talk has been plauged by a high turnover rate with Powell being the only constant and her scare and recovery from a hemorrhage vocal polyp, making last night's show even more special.
It was my first show at The Rhythm Room, a fun and intimate venue I've wanted to check out for some time. I can't wait to see Best Coast there in November.
Concert week concludes tonight with Sleigh Bells at The Clubhouse in Tempe.
